23 Apr The Yeoman Family Volunteer Center. Promoting the Arts Through the Spirit of Volunteering
By Arianna Leon, Public Relations Intern
The new ArtsQuest Creative Factory powered by PPL will include many unique spaces destined for community growth and development through the arts. One of those spaces will include a new Volunteer Center, a place where volunteers can meet, train and network with each other. “When the opportunity arose to support the new Creative Factory by naming a dedicated volunteer area within the building, we enthusiastically said YES,” commented Chuck and Cindy Yeoman. As long-time volunteers and supporters of ArtsQuest, they continue to make a positive impact on the community through sharing the importance of volunteering. “Although this is a small part of the entire project, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to help in providing a dedicated workspace for our hard-working volunteers,” they continued.
The Yeomans have been volunteering for a dozen years at both Musikfest and events throughout ArtsQuest and the SteelStacks campus. During the country’s largest non-gated music festival, the couple even stays at Hotel Bethlehem during the entire 10 days so they can help behind-the-scenes during the day and then enjoy the time with family and friends, hitting as many venues as they can. For over 30 years, they have rarely missed a Musikfest and with Cindy sporting her famous festival hat, the couple are hard to miss.
Over the years, Cindy has volunteered with ArtsQuest as an usher, ticket taker, festival set up/take down, beer tapping and stagehand. Chuck is a Board Member of the Friends of Levitt Pavilion at SteelStacks and an ArtsQuest volunteer. For the Yeomans, some of their best volunteer memories include getting ready and then taking down events while working the venue, and then hanging out with fellow volunteers. “We believe volunteering makes our community a better place to live,” they said. “Whether it’s setting up tents for Musikfest, sitting on an ArtsQuest Board or Committee, or helping with a Levitt concert, we are always willing to lend a helping hand. We thank the ArtsQuest Foundation for honoring volunteerism and its important role within our community.”
The Yeoman’s have a strong background in continuously doing just that. They spent many years volunteering with the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts, Chuck as a Scoutmaster and Eagle Scout Coach and Cindy as a Den and Pack Leader. Chuck is also involved in local sportsman’s and veteran associations, and he’s been a volunteer firefighter since age 16. Chuck, now retired, was Vice President, Partner and Chief Operating Officer at Campbell Supply Company, where he worked for 37 years and currently consults through his company, CJY Solutions, LLC. Cindy, also retired, was employed with M&M Sales, Inc. where she oversaw financial operations and sales support.
For Chuck and Cindy, it’s a priority that volunteers enjoy themselves while working on the different events that ArtsQuest has to offer. As for advice to fellow volunteers – they say, “Always wear a smile because you are the first contact that attendees and patrons will have.” The Yeoman’s understand the important role that volunteers play at ArtsQuest and look forward to a brand-new space specifically for volunteers inside the ArtsQuest Creative Factory powered by PPL. The Yeoman Family Volunteer Center will be a tribute to the altruist spirit of Chuck and Cindy, furthering the spirit and importance of volunteering in the community.
